Emmys winner Jodie Comer shows off incredible figure in plunging gown at after party as she stuns fans with her Liverpool accent
JODIE Comer didn't invite her parents to the Emmy Awards because she didn't think she would win.
The 26-year-old actress took home the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as villainous Villanelle in Killing Eve in Los Angeles on Monday night, but her family were absent from the ceremony because she didn't think it would be "her time" to take home a trophy.
Speaking on stage at the annual awards bash, which took place at the Microsoft Theatre in California, she said: "My mum and dad in Liverpool, who I didn't invite because I didn't think it would be my time.
"One, I'm sorry, and two, I love you. I'm gonna bring this home."
She continued: "I was not expecting to get up on this stage tonight.
"I cannot believe I'm in a category alongside these women, including Sandra Oh."
Jodie beat her co-star Sandra - who portrays secret detective Eve Polastri in the thriller - to the hotspot, as well as Game Of Thrones' Emilia Clarke, and Viola Davis for her role in How To Get Away with Murder.
Jodie also pipped Ozark's actress Laura Linney, Mandy Moore and Robin Wright to the post.
The Thirteen star went on to praise her colleague after Gwyneth Paltrow handed her the award.
She said: "Safe to say Sandra, this has been an absolute whirlwind and I feel so lucky to have shared this experience with you."
After Jodie graced the stage to share a few words, viewers took to social media to share how surprised they were with her Liverpudlian accent.
One tweeted: "I did not expect Jodie Comer to have this lovely Scouse accent."
Another shared: "I'm blown away by anything other than a Russian accent coming outta that gorgeous mouth. Love you Villanelle."
A separate wrote: "Other actors have lost their Liverpool accent as their careers have progressed but Jodie Comer is there on stage at the Emmys sounding like someone I'd hear walking to the bus, urgh I love her."
"Omg did we know Jodie Comer has this accent??? #Emmys", wrote another.
A fifth shared: "I was not expecting that scouse accent from Jodie Comer."
